NEW VIDEO!!
I was invited by friends at El Patio Studio, Barcelona, to try some vintage microphones. After choosing my favourites a song was sung to rejoice the beauty of cool, old gear and it was captured on film. Here is the result. Hoorah!! (Big thanks to Gorka and Abel for maiking this happen.)

RED BULL UPDATE - ALL CLEARED UP.
Just had a very cool conference call with the heads of Red Bull media, one in a taxi in Hong Kong and another in Austria. Very nice guys. The Red Bull situation has been cleared up and it turned out to be an honest mess up with neither Red Bull nor my publishers to blame.. a legal limbo you might say. We are in talks about them using more of my music (this time with our 100% permission) on something else they are producing. Read the FULL BLOG POST HERE.

2 months on the road, 39 shows and 8 radio sessions later and I'm back in Barcelona. Not going to drag this on, but I have to say a huuuuge thanks to everyone who came out to the shows and who was is involved in the tour in any way whatsoever. It was an amazing journey with many highs and lows, met some great people.... all in all it was a blast. The best bit after such an experience is all the songs that come flooding out. Time to start writing. Hope to see you all again soon. ;-)

Happy new year first of all. I'm back from a month away down under and finally getting the website updated. Long time since I did an update here. The 4 track cassette demos turned out so well that we (Black and Tan Records and myself) have decided to release them as the new album. I have spent the past month mixing, producing and getting them in order and I'm very happy with the result.
I'll be back in Switzerland at the end of the month. Very much looking forward to that. All details over at the SHOWS page
In other news, I was interview for TVE2 in Spain the other day. Got to play them a couple of songs too. Shouold be aired around mid December. Click HERE to see a photo taken from behind the camera.
I was contacted by a very cool girl called Annet Zieltjens from the Netherlands a while back. She is studying design at school and for her final project has decided to make a magazine for up and coming Singer Songwriters and asked me if I'd do an interview. She just sent me some photos of the final result and I have the pleasure of being on the cover of this wonderful fledgling magazine as well as a 4 page interview inside, including the wonderful work photographer Alicia Rey did for the Rooftop album. Very cool indeed, thanks Annet. :) Oh and she tells me she got great grades too. Click HERE to see how it turned out.

Back from the Blue Balls Festival in Switzerland. Was a wonderful experience. 3 days of great crowds, great people, great food and beautiful scenery. The shows went really well and I sold out of CDs on the second day. Thanks to everyone in Luzern for making me feel so at home. Back in sunny Barcelona now and writing some new songs. Feliz summer everyone! :)

1hr LIVE STUDIO SESSION ON TV3 SPAIN
In March I was asked to write 10 new "Blues" based songs for TV3 here in Cataluña. We filmed 4 weeks later and here is the result. It's a bit of a departure from my usual stuff as it's with a quartet and I play electric. Was a huge pleasure to work with these fantastic musicians and the guys at Nomada Studios here in Barcelona. Hope you dig it too. (You have to be patient with the plublicity at the start.) Oh and for anyone who has aksed me to play "Guilty Sunday" at a show, it's on here too. :)

Home Sweet Home!! Back from the tour and there really are tooo many people to thank. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, I sold out of CDs, met some great people and had a blast playing the shows. The scenery was breath taking, the wildlife a treat to see, the food wonderful, the beer cold and plentiful (on the couple of occasions that I drank), the hire car was a pleasure to drive, the autobahn in Germany was scary as hell, me doing 170 and BMWs passing me like I was standing still... seriously, THANK YOU to everyone at the clubs and who came to the shows. I'll be back soon.. actually 26th, 27th and 28th July I'll be playing Blue Balls Festival in Luzern (Switzerland) so maybe see some of you there. Abrazos to all.. DP :)

Just back from 3 really nice gigs in Portugal. HERE is a video shot on an iPad from the first gig. NEW DATES have been added recently to the June shows around Europe and I will be playing the Blue Balls Festival in Switzerland in July. It's a wonderful festival and they have some great headliners this year including one of my favourites Keb' Mo'.

Back from a few weeks away, relaxing and recharging batteries. I finally got round to editing some of the video from December's Live Uit Lloyd radio session in Rotterdam. HERE is a song from that.

In October I was asked to write a whole set of new, original Blues songs for a TV series here in Barcelona. I disappeared for 2 weeks and wrote like crazy, got together with 2 absolute monster musicians - Caspar St. Charles and Julian Thorne, and we filmed. The result is here. I'm very happy with it. Thanks to everyone who made it happen, was great great great fun.

Latest news : The review of The Rooftop Recordings from Something Else Reviews got reposted in No Depression, a fantastic Roots/Americana blog with lots of readers. Check it out HERE. Also a very cool review from a French music blog Zicazac. "Our Own Hands" was included in a great UK podcast called Suffolk and Cool. Been getting lots more radio airplay over Europe, too many shows to mention but thankyou to everyone who is playing my music and supporting the new album, I really appreciate it. Just back from doing some guitar work for another band at a great festival here in Spain. Saw a fantastic Jackson Browne gig with a band called Dawes, wonderfull. Now I'm back and have finally updated the website. You can now hear tracks from the new album "The Rooftop Recordings" which is now available for digital download at iTunes and many other digital music providers. You can also pre-order the CD from Black and Tan Records. Official CD launch date is Sept. 9th so get your copy first. Just go to the MUSIC section for all that good stuff. Then once you've got your copy or downloaded your mp3s, head to the LYRICS section and sing along! I've also changed the look of the site a bit using the great photos taken by Alicia Rey for the album artwork. Some shows in the north of Europe are starting to come in for the end of the year. Well, the shows page is updated, not much happening at the moment as I've been concentrating on the album. All has been handed over to the guys at Black and Tan Records, so now I wait. Heading off around Spain on some guitar session gigs now, but will have an acoustic with me, so will hopefully start writing some new material.

I really must apologise for not keeping my gig calender up to date! I have been so busy with the new album that it keeps getting stuck at the bottom of the pile. Also I've been doing a lot of session gigs with other bands which I don't tend to announce here as it gets confusing and people turn up expecting to hear my songs. I promise to update as soon as I get a minute, but in the meantime, please follow me on Facebook or Twitter (see links top right) for gig announcements.
Other news, since the "Soundclouder of the day" thing, I have gained nearly 4000 followers on Soundcloud and will be using the platform to launch the new album when it's ready.

Haven't been updating the site much lately as I've been writing and recording the 2nd album. I just finished recording today and now I'm going out for some food and a decent beer (I always try and lay off the alcohol when I'm doing a lot of singing.) Starting mixing tomorrow. Watch this space!

Also, whilst on tour I did some special videos as part of a Video Tour Diary.Instead of recording the shows, I found cool places and/or people and did some "alternative" tour videos on the road. They will be in the video esction soon, but for now you can see part 1 HERE
I'm now working on the new album for Black and Tan records. It will be a mainly solo, acoustic record, stripped down to the bare bones allowing the songs, voive and guitar playing to come through to the forefront. I'll keep you informed. Thanks DP

New album is coming on just nice. Will be recording demos soon on my favourite 4 track cassette machine. Always good fun to use. Back from the Blue Balls Festival in Switzerland. Was a wonderful experience. 3 days of great crowds, great people, great food and beautiful scenery. The shows went really well and I sold out of CDs on the second day. Thanks to everyone in Luzern for making me feel so at home. Back in sunny Barcelona now and writing some new songs. Feliz summer everyone! :)

1hr LIVE STUDIO SESSION ON TV3 SPAIN
In March I was asked to write 10 new "Blues" based songs for TV3 here in Cataluña. We filmed 4 weeks later and here is the result. It's a bit of a departure from my usual stuff as it's with a quartet and I play electric. Was a huge pleasure to work with these fantastic musicians and the guys at Nomada Studios here in Barcelona. Hope you dig it too. (You have to be patient with the plublicity at the start.) Oh and for anyone who has aksed me to play "Guilty Sunday" at a show, it's on here too. :)

Home Sweet Home!! Back from the tour and there really are tooo many people to thank. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, I sold out of CDs, met some great people and had a blast playing the shows. The scenery was breath taking, the wildlife a treat to see, the food wonderful, the beer cold and plentiful (on the couple of occasions that I drank), the hire car was a pleasure to drive, the autobahn in Germany was scary as hell, me doing 170 and BMWs passing me like I was standing still... seriously, THANK YOU to everyone at the clubs and who came to the shows. I'll be back soon.. actually 26th, 27th and 28th July I'll be playing Blue Balls Festival in Luzern (Switzerland) so maybe see some of you there. Abrazos to all.. DP :)

Hey everyone. Seems that Facebook are playing games again. Posts and updates from pages are reaching a small percentage of the people who decided to "like" that page. Why? Because they have introduced a new "service" in which we have to pay if we want our posts to reach everyone subscribed to our page. The future for FB and independent musicians looks bleak so all I can do is say please check in to my timeline for news and updates (as you may not be getting them in your feed from now on) and BETTER STILL, forget facebook and sign up to my NEWSLETTER and/or follow me on TWITTER - @dphilipsmusic. Just back from 3 really nice gigs in Portugal. HERE is a video shot on an iPad from the first gig. NEW DATES have been added recently to the June shows around Europe and I will be playing the Blue Balls Festival in Switzerland in July. It's a wonderful festival and they have some great headliners this year including one of my favourites Keb' Mo'.

Back from a few weeks away, relaxing and recharging batteries. I finally got round to editing some of the video from December's Live Uit Lloyd radio session in Rotterdam. HERE is a song from that.
After some serious writers block, it seems the muse has struck again, so some new sings starting to take shape. Watch this space :)

In October I was asked to write a whole set of new, original Blues songs for a TV series here in Barcelona. I disappeared for 2 weeks and wrote like crazy, got together with 2 absolute monster musicians - Caspar St. Charles and Julian Thorne, and we filmed. The result is here. I'm very happy with it. Thanks to everyone who made it happen, was great great great fun.

Latest news : The review of The Rooftop Recordings from Something Else Reviews got reposted in No Depression, a fantastic Roots/Americana blog with lots of readers. Check it out HERE. Also a very cool review from a French music blog Zicazac. "Our Own Hands" was included in a great UK podcast called Suffolk and Cool. Been getting lots more radio airplay over Europe, too many shows to mention but thankyou to everyone who is playing my music and supporting the new album, I really appreciate it. Also getting a lot of radio airplay all over Europe including a CD of the week slot on the Bluespotting show and on RTV Rijmond out of Rotterdam, Holland.

Just back from doing some guitar work for another band at a great festival here in Spain. Saw a fantastic Jackson Browne gig with a band called Dawes, wonderfull. Now I'm back and have finally updated the website. You can now hear tracks from the new album "The Rooftop Recordings" which is now available for digital download at iTunes and many other digital music providers. You can also pre-order the CD from Black and Tan Records. Official CD launch date is Sept. 9th so get your copy first. Just go to the MUSIC section for all that good stuff. Then once you've got your copy or downloaded your mp3s, head to the LYRICS section and sing along! I've also changed the look of the site a bit using the great photos taken by Alicia Rey for the album artwork. Some shows in the north of Europe are starting to come in for the end of the year. Well, the shows page is updated, not much happening at the moment as I've been concentrating on the album. All has been handed over to the guys at Black and Tan Records, so now I wait. Heading off around Spain on some guitar session gigs now, but will have an acoustic with me, so will hopefully start writing some new material.

I really must apologise for not keeping my gig calender up to date! I have been so busy with the new album that it keeps getting stuck at the bottom of the pile. Also I've been doing a lot of session gigs with other bands which I don't tend to announce here as it gets confusing and people turn up expecting to hear my songs. I promise to update as soon as I get a minute, but in the meantime, please follow me on Facebook or Twitter (see links top right) for gig announcements.
Other news, since the "Soundclouder of the day" thing, I have gained nearly 4000 followers on Soundcloud and will be using the platform to launch the new album when it's ready.

Haven't been updating the site much lately as I've been writing and recording the 2nd album. I just finished recording today and now I'm going out for some food and a decent beer (I always try and lay off the alcohol when I'm doing a lot of singing.) Starting mixing tomorrow. Watch this space!

Back from the Benelux tour. Was great, met some wonderful people and played some very enjoyable shows. More news, I was chosen as soundclouder of the day today. Check out their FB post HERE
Also, whilst on tour I did some special videos as part of a Video Tour Diary.Instead of recording the shows, I found cool places and/or people and did some "alternative" tour videos on the road. They will be in the video esction soon, but for now you can see part 1 HERE
I'm now working on the new album for Black and Tan records. It will be a mainly solo, acoustic record, stripped down to the bare bones allowing the songs, voive and guitar playing to come through to the forefront. I'll keep you informed. Thanks DP
